How the SEO health score works

What the score measures, how issues are weighted, and what it does not mean.

The health score starts at 100 and goes down for each issue found. Critical issues (for example a site that asks search engines not to index it) count the most, warnings less, notices very little. Each type of issue has a maximum it can take off, so one repeated problem cannot push the score to zero on its own.

The score summarises problems SEOSID found. It is not a prediction of your Google rankings, and no tool can guarantee rankings.

Severity

  • Critical: stops pages from being found or shown properly. Fix first.
  • Warning: makes results weaker, for example missing or duplicate meta descriptions, thin descriptions or images without ALT text.
  • Notice: small improvements, such as titles slightly too long.

What is checked

Titles and meta descriptions (missing, duplicate, too long or short), thin content, image ALT text, headings, indexing settings, robots.txt, XML sitemap and HTTPS. The site crawl (Site health) adds broken links and images, oversized images, product structured data, canonical tags and multi-language (hreflang) tags.

Partial audits

Your plan includes a number of pages audited per month. If your store has more, the audit checks as many as your allowance covers and says so.
